Wonderful Women

Leslie Knope has officially declared February 13th as Galentine’s Day and we would be fools not to take this day to celebrate our best and favorite gal pals!

There are many women we admire IRL (love you Mom) and women that we see changing the world from behind our screens (that we not so secretly would love to be BFF’s with). Galentine’s day is a perfect opportunity for us to highlight some of the boss babes we haven’t met IRL but inspire us to be better humans.

We’ve rounded up a list of some women that inspire us because they boldly stand up for what they believe in. Keep scrolling for some ladies you will want to keep an eye on for creative inspiration, encouragement to love yourself and overall making the world a better place to live!

The creator of Ban.do, our favorite place to shop all things motivating. You can find clothing, accessories, office supplies and much more that will remind you how amazing you are! She may bring the world shirts that say “ Strong Female Lead” and “ I am Fun” but she also uses her platform to educate the world on mental health. She shares her personal journey in hopes to end stigmas revolving around mental illnesses and has inspired us to take on our own wellness journey. You can listen to her weekly podcast, Jen Gotch is OK…Sometimes. She shares her fears and triumphs and we can honestly say it has helped us develop a better understanding of our emotions.

She’s the founder and creator of Dazey L.A. , a clothing brand that focuses on ethically made clothing. There is zero waste when it comes to the production of Dazey clothing. It’s all made to order in Los Angeles, California. Not only is keeping Mother Earth clean and healthy a focus so is shedding light on social issues. Each collection that Dani creates and designs is centered around a theme. The latest collection is called “Highlight REAL”. It focuses on bringing attention to the unrealistic images the fashion industry as well as social media platforms have sent into the world that find their way onto our screens. This can be so damaging and sometimes we don’t even realize it. She has not only inspired us to shop smarter when it comes to fashion but to be more vulnerable and share our real lives on our social media platforms rather than hiding behind the perfect photo and caption.

Lizzo

She’s an artist and body positivity advocate! We haven’t known anyone to start to feel bad about their body and immediately take naked selfies to remind themselves that they are beautiful. She has taught us to love ourselves better and inspires us to strive to be 100% comfortable in our skin. When that isn’t working for us we just dance around singing along to “Good As Hell” to get back on track.

We don’t know about y’all but we’re still not over Oprah’s speech at the Golden Globes last year. This woman has truly been an inspiring change in the world for decades and when she spoke those two simple words “TIME’S UP” our hearts bursted with encouragement and passion for a better and more equal future.

We promise we love her for more than her role on The Good Place! We love that this self proclaimed feminist-in-progress uses her platform to remind the world that they are more than their physical appearance. She’s a firm believer in calling out diet pill companies for marketing their prouducts in the form of shaming the people they are targeting. We all have seen the advertisement “Did you over indulge during the holidays?! Use these secret magic pills and lose ten pounds instantly.” Insert our eye rolls here. We live for the Insta posts where she brings attention to the lies that are being promoted by these influencers. We are here for truth! You can read more on the petition she started here.

Happy Galentine’s Day friends! We hope you are celebrating the gals in your life because let’s be honest, us ladies deserve it! In the words of the creator, Leslie Knope “Uteruses before duderuses!”

xoxo
